How can i return my new laptop to best buy w/out paying the 15% restocking fee?
Bought a laptop 3 days ago from best buy. Just don’t love it – after getting it home i realized the speakers suck, it’s ergonomically uncomfortable and it’s too bulky (that I could have predicted). A 15% restocking fee means I’ll have to eat almost $250, which just seems ridiculous.
Are there any loopholes or particular things i can complain about that would prompt them to lift this restocking fee?
In response to some answers below… Breaking the computer won’t work because I got the accidental protection plan. They’ll just replace it. Walmart doesn’t carry this model. There must be some tricks or loopholes?
Well the dishonest thing to do is…. The computer has to be defective in order for it to be returned without a restocking fee. If you already put personal information or installed programs already use the laptops restore cd to restore the laptop to factorry settings. Go into the c: drive > windows > system 32 folder and start deleting some files. You can also click start > run and type regedit and mess around and delete some registry files… This should make you OS not boot and give you the “Blue Screen of Death” bring it back to best buy and return it telling them its brand new and all you get is error messages. You don’t want to deal with it anymore… calling tech support is a waste of time and you should not have to deal with this from a brand new laptop out of the box…. maybe after you do this and get away with it donate a 100 bucks to a charity to balance out your Karma a little..LOL
Now the honest thing to do is just return it and take it as a lesson learned. Do a little more research before you buy and never buy from Best Buy. If you want to “test drive” a laptop try buying from Costco. They have a 90 day return policy with no restocking fee.
Your choice.. …
