What is the best laptop computer?

Have been looking at some laptops and was thinking about purchasing one tomorrow, but first I would like to know which laptop seems to be the best as far as performance, quality, longevity, etc. or are all laptops pretty much the same. Dont want to spend more then $1000. Thank you!
