why would I buy a pc over a laptop?

I think i should buy an Asus laptop 3Gb dual core over a Hp duo core what do you think?

In most cases a Desktop will give you more power for a given dollar. They are significantly easier to repair and upgrade, and will have larger screens.
Laptops are primarily about portability, and they come with compromises in the hardware to overcome the built-in heating problems.
