How do I transfer files from PC to Laptop?

I want to transer files from pc to laptop with the pc to pc USB. My A drive does not work and everything I have read seems to require that. I know you can use the file transfer wizard and this tells me to make a disk needing the A drive. Is there a simple way to do this transfer. I have the 2 pcs connected and I can see both in network connections. I just cant see how to start transfer. I put everything in briefcase on my pc to be able to locate files easier for transer. Any help would be great. I would like a step by step guide to do this.

I do these a little differently. I use a jump drive. I start with the old computer and run the files and transfer wizard. This saves everything and I save it the jump/flash drive.

Then on the new computer I run the wizard and tell it this is the new one, and then it has me direct it to the file = my jump/flash drive.

Never had a prob so far except, once in a while it tells me file not there, I just try it again and it works.
