Whats the difference between a laptop and one of these £150 notebooks.?
My son wants a laptop for his birthday in September but I will not pay £300 for one. I have seen notebooks advertised and I wondered if it would be of any use. Does it have any memory to speak of?
My son likes to pay games, has a Facebook account and uses Youtube and those type of sites. he is 13
Thank you all for so much helpfull advice……I think I have been persuaded to save up for a laptop…sigh!
A note book is smaller and less powerful and has bare bones operating system somtime XP or Linux. There good for just internet and email and a bit of wrighting. A fully loaded Laptop has all the features of a desktop computer and moden ones are very fast.
I advice for Kids who like to take these things everywhere is get a rubbish old IBM for about £50 off ebay and run Puppy Linux on it. No one will pinch it because it looks rubbish but they are really robust and last forever and Linux make old computers run very fast and is free, Puppy is easy to undertand for kids it looks the same as windows and has a cute non techy feel.
