Laptop Pci Express

does my dell inspiron 531(pc not laptop) have 2.0 x16 pci express?

i was looking to tell if my computer can support a good graphic
card and this is the compatible slot for the card
1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16

Since it doesn’t specify and since the system entered the market in 2007, I don’t think it is 2.0. But you are aware that the 2.0 cards are backwards compatible.

I think you will be safe purchasing a current video card ‘if you don’t purchase one that requires a power supply larger that you have in your system’. Plan carefully… you may need to upgrade/replace you power supply.
