
What shops are good for bargaining down prices when buying a laptop in London. PC World dont do it at all?
My friends are going to buy me vouchers for my birthday and I need a laptop. No idea which laptop as there are just too many on the market!
Often the best places for haggling the price down are not the best bottom line deals. 30% off is not that great a deal if the start price is 40% higher than you can get it elsewhere. Try to research online what model computer you want. Google reviews of laptops in the price range, or slightly higher than what you want to pay. Remember, you won’t be paying list price. Go online at price comparison sites to get an idea how low the cost of what you decide on could be. Then start your shopping locally to try to get close to or match of the best on-line price.
Consumer Reports did a 27,000 laptop owner survey of laptops about two years ago and found an insignificant difference between top 7 brands in percentage of them that had to go in for repairs. For curiosity only,Toshiba did top the list with Mac at the bottom. Tosh and Lenovo have generally good reputations for customer satisfaction.
