5 Horizontal lines on my Dell laptop in the middle of the screen- help!?
Recently, 5 lines (started as 2-3) have appeared on my Dell laptop screen. It happened once before, but went away after a couple of weeks, and stayed away for a couple of months, now they’re back.
They change color according to the background, so if I’m on a page that is white, and go to a page that is black, I see 5 white lines on the screen. They go away if I press on the screen with my thumbs where the lines start, but come back and are whatever color they were over when they started, so I’ll have multicolored lines.
Does anyone know what could cause this, and a simple way to fix it, besides sending it away to be fixed? I also have heard overheating might cause it, and I do have a charger that gets extremely hot when I plug it into the surge protector beside my bed, and my laptop battery gets hot too. It’s not under warranty anymore I believe, so if anyone could point out a free or low cost solution, I’d be grateful.
Sorry if that sounded confusing. -Thanks.
There is no fix. These lines are caused by putting a twist on the screen over time, by continually opening and closing your screen by one corner… instead of always using equal pressure by opening the screen in the middle.
Sometimes these lines can be caused by putting excess weight on the lid of the laptop when it is closed.
What has happened, is that there is now a separation in the back of the LCD panel… a separation between the panel and the powered connection. There is no way to repair this. You can clearly see this is a physical issue with the LCD panel itself, when you can affect these lines with physical pressure on the screen. The only repair, is to replace the LCD panel.
