How do I connent two windows laptops using an ethernet cable?
I am not sure of the settings that have to be done on the two computers so that I can transfer files between them
If you actually want to connect them there are a couple of ways to do it:
1) Get an Ethernet crossover cable and then you can connect the Ethernet ports directly. A regular Ethernet cable will not work unless you switch some of the wires around.
2) Get a router and connect both computers to that. This is a pretty easy way, and good if you want both of them to connect to the internet.
3) If you only want to transfer files, you might want to invest in a USB drive, which are very useful in general as well. You can connect the drive to either computer (well, if it has USB) and then connect it to the other to move the files. I have a 30 GB USB external drive and it’s amazing at these sorts of things.
